Mike Cox, Webinar Chair

After 13 years in retail purchasing and supply, Mike became an assessor for apprenticeships with TBG Learning in 1999. He soon moved onto various development roles with learndirect, RNID and then LSN where he headed up the bidding and development team, helping design support programmes and research in areas including Train to Gain, Citizenship, Diplomas, Key Skills, Functional Skills and Foundation Learning. He joined AELP in February 2013.

Mike is married with 2 children and lives in rural Kent.





 
 

Joel Featherman

Chief Executive Officer, PublicCo

Joel has been with PublicCo since 2012, taking up his current position as Chief Executive in 2015. He spent 13 years at KPMG, where he trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant. He has worked with a wide range of private, voluntary and public sector organisations. This includes acting as interim CEO for an arm’s-length government body, working as a consultant within the Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit and as an Assistant Director at the UK Commission for Employment and Skills. Joel is also an external Governor of Capital City College Group and a Trustee of the Tavistock Institute for Human Relations.



 
 

JP Buckley

Partner at Shoosmiths

JP is a Partner in the Technology, Media and Commercial team at national law firm Shoosmiths, specialising in privacy, data protection and procurement. JP undertakes a wide range of information law work including data protection, cybersecurity, e-commerce, direct marketing and freedom of information - and has a range of clients in the aviation, retail and technology sectors, as well as charities and the public sector. He also has extensive experience in IT and BPO outsourcing and educational ICT, overlapping with his data privacy practice. JP’s practice includes advising on and reviewing data protection compliance strategies, including for the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with global retailers, a leading regulated London financial services institution, major global and regional airlines and airports, website and technology operators and public sector bodies and charities; providing training at all levels of client organisations - including on the new EU General Data Protection Regulation and compliance strategies - ensuring that they take a global compliance approach and ensure that teams working in even countries with little or no regulation are aware of the rules which apply elsewhere and are likely to impact their operations; and procuring, negotiating and managing outsourced contracts, including for major public sector bodies and charities, the highlight being a successful renegotiation of a contentious £3bn health data services contract.
