This webinar is designed to help participants further develop their understanding of how to judge how well tutors promote Equality and Diversity in sessions.

Objectives

Participants should on completion of the webinar, be able to describe and explain:

  • the importance of getting tutors to identify where and how they believe they are promoting Equality and Diversity in the session to be observed
  • what effective practice looks like when tutors:
    • challenge inappropriate and discriminatory behaviour linked to the nine characteristics
    • promote awareness of the nine characteristics
    • celebrate Diversity including cultural and other perspectives
    • create inclusive learning experiences
    • challenge stereotyping and other equality issues
  • how to frame judgments that fairly identify whether and how well tutors promote Equality and Diversity in their session?

Who Should Attend

This webinar will be of interest to learning session observers of all levels of experience working in the post 16 learning sector, and individuals who aspire to be learning session observers. The session will also be of use to individuals not active in observation, but who undertake roles such as Quality Managers, Quality Coordinators, Programme / Curriculum Managers, and Operational Managers). It will also be relevant to those who have not observed for some time, but who may be required to do so in the foreseeable future.
