Mike Cox, Webinar Chair

Operations Manager, Association of Employment and Learning Providers  

After 13 years in retail purchasing and supply, Mike became an assessor for apprenticeships with TBG Learning in 1999. He soon moved onto various development roles with learndirect, RNID and then LSN where he headed up the bidding and development team, helping design support programmes and research in areas including Train to Gain, Citizenship, Diplomas, Key Skills, Functional Skills and Foundation Learning. He joined AELP in February 2013.

Mike is married with 2 children and lives in rural Kent.

Ali Cox

Head of Apprenticeships, Chartered Management Institute

Ali has spent the majority of her career working in the business support arena in the South West, with a focus on individual and organisational development through Investors in People, the Leadership and Management Advisory Service and Train to Gain, and more recently, within Peninsula Enterprise (part of Serco) working on a range of projects supporting businesses in the use of Superfast Broadband in the SW and Wales, working closely with funders and Local Authorities.

Since May 2015 she has been the Project Manager for the Leadership & Management Trailblazer Employer Group (of which Serco is the Chair), which has successfully developed and launched the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship in the record time of 6 months, and are now working on two new Standards – Team Leader and Operations Manager. She has recently joined the Chartered Management Institute, and will continue to focus on the exciting developments in apprenticeships, and in particular the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship.

 

Richard Marsh

Operations Director at Capita Talent Partnerships

Richard is currently Operations Director at Capita Talent Partnerships. His job is to make sure that their clients and their learners receive the best possible service. Capita manage their own Traineeship and Apprenticeship programmes as well as supporting other employers deliver theirs. Capita is the largest provider of Higher Apprenticeships in the UK and a ‘Trailblazer’.

Previously Richard has been:
  • Head of Apprenticeship funding reform for the Skills Funding Agency, leading on the development of the post ‘Richard Review’ funding system
  • Director of Employer Engagement for the National Apprenticeship Service
  • Head of Specialisation for the Learning & Skills Council, where he launched the new standard for training quality (TQM)
  • Head of learning content at Volkswagen Group, responsible for developing training content from Apprenticeships to Management training
  • Training manager at Vodafone UK, where he introduced their first Modern Apprenticeship programme back in 1998!
